Seema Singh is a well-known Social Entrepreneur in Mumbai. Since her early days, she always wished to bring about a positive change in the society and make the world a better place to live in by helping the needy people. To fulfil her mission in life, she started various social initiatives 15 years ago. Today she along with her two children and other team members successfully runs her NGO organisation ‘Meghashrey. ‘ Named after her two kids, Meghna and Shrey, her NGO was founded with a goal of improving the lives of underprivileged children and feed the hungry in India.

Winter is that time of the year which calls for hot coffee, snuggling up in a warm cosy blanket and staying warm in your homes. But for those who live on the streets, it is a matter of survival in the chilling temperatures. Far from hot food or warm blankets, even getting one meal a day and something to cover their body seems like a dream.

But Seema Singh is here to fulfil their dreams. Every winter, her organization Meghashrey organizes a Blanket Donation Campaign, where they provide high-quality warm blankets along with dry ration to the underprivileged living in the open on the streets. All the members of her NGO make their best efforts to reach out to maximum underprivileged people across Mumbai. The needy people felt very happy on receiving such good and cosy blankets from the team. The smile on their faces made Seema’s day.

Says Seema Singh, the founder of Meghashrey, ‘There is no better gift than providing warm clothing to the needy during the winter season. There are lakhs of homeless and poor people in the city. Due to lack of resources, they experience bitterness of winter and are at great risk of suffering from severe illnesses. The rise in air pollution levels and the early onset of winter this year have made them vulnerable, but at the same time, it has allowed us to serve humanity by donating blankets to the needy. There cannot be a bigger satisfaction than saving someone’s life.’

Thus every winter, Seema Singh makes a small but important contribution in the lives of the poor people. She even invites many volunteers to become a part of their noble mission. And many friends, families and others in her network get inspired by her social activities and join Meghashrey to contribute towards the society in their own little way.

Seema’s both the children are active members of the NGO. Through their organization ‘Meghashrey,’ Seema provides free health check – ups to the elderly in her society. Her daughter Meghna being a doctor attends to the elderly, while Seema arranges for their food & medicines. Seema’s son Shrey at a young age of 14 utilized all his birthday funds to buy essential items for 150 workers. He is actively engaged in all the major events and initiatives of Meghashrey.

Over the years Meghashrey NGO has organized many food distribution drives, sapling distribution drive, blanket distribution drives and conducted many other social activities. Recently Seema organised a wonderful pre-Christmas celebration with underprivileged children. She became the Secret Santa for the needy children of the society. Seema spent a wonderful time with the children, giving them gifts, snack boxes, thus spreading joy and happiness in their lives.
